Thursday Thirteen

Maggie always does the ThursdayThirteen…it looked like it might be fun, so I talked Mark into it as well.

Thirteen Things I like about Cats!

1. They are hairy, and that can be warm when you sleep with them.
2. They don’t need you, THEY DON’T NEED ANYBODY!
3. They sometimes miss the target when they jump and act like nothing happened.
4. They will stare right at you and puke on your carpet.
5. They suddenly need to be upstairs.
6. They can open cabinets to look for items of interest.
7. Unlike me, they sleep most comfortably in sinks.
8. When the rapture comes, I will have fur that I am saving on my carpet to make warm clothes.
9. Other cat people will give you the “Crazy Cat Person” handshake…if there were one, which there isn’t.
10. Girls can stay over and bring their cat, because you are already outfitted for it.
11. You don’t have to walk a cat on Saturday morning.
12. How can you not respect a beast that sleeps 18 hours a day.
13. They go to the bathroom indoors, like other civilized animals (see: humans)

Get the Thursday Thirteen code here!

The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others’ comments. It’s easy, and fun! Trackbacks, pings, comment links accepted!

New glasses

I picked up some new glasses.

I also managed to get the built in web cam on my laptop to work via Vmware.

**Edit: I changed the picture to something more flattering.**

Happy New Year

Hello constant reader. I wanted to take a moment and wish everyone a happy New Year.

2007 was a crazy ride for me. I am not even going to begin to go over all things in my life that aren’t what was this time last year.

But to all of you from me, Happy New Year. I hope you all find what you are looking for in 2008. And I hope what you are looking for is happiness.

Nathan.

Resolutions

Since I am getting ready with the rest of the western world to wrap up 2007, I figured this would be as good a time as any to think about New Years resolutions.

So here they are:

1. I will run full time again at some point in 2008
2. I will continue to cross train at least 3 times per week, until I can run full time.
3. I will not start smoking again in 2008
4. I will read more (I’ll let this one be ambiguous so I can waffle about it later)
5. I will attempt to train for and run a marathon.
6. I will reduce the stress in my life to a point where it is manageable.

That’s a good start.

Winter Solstice

I hate that it gets dark so early in the winter. Yesterday was Winter Solstice in my hemisphere. It’s a sweet sad day in that the sun will set a bit later every day, but that we still have about 78 days until DST begins.

Blah. If you need me I’ll be over here waiting for March 9th to arrive. I plan to run when I get home from work on March 10th, just because I can.

The case for carafes

Seriously, diners of the world. Listen up. Colonial Park Diner gives you a carafe of coffee when you order coffee. This is clutch. I don’t like to have people pouring coffee in my cup when it’s half full. They have messed up the delicate balance of cream and sugar that I hand crafted. I am then forced to recreate the taste but with some cream and sugar already in the cup. With the carafe, I don’t have to worry about that. I can finish my cup, and then, and ONLY then, do I pour more coffee.

They also do the smooth move of giving tea drinkers a pot of tea.

122 more days till Daylight Saving Time. :(

The switch

Heh, I am not going to get into a big discussion over my recent switch to OS X. However I will be posting OS X tips (as I have been recently) and possibly some screen shots from time to time.

So far, so good. I have acclimated nicely to the new environment.

Wee little boy

I shaved off my goatee this weekend for the first time in like 10 years. Dear lord I look like a wee little boy
