Well, time to switch sports. I gave up running about five years ago and never looked back. My body just couldn't take the pounding of running as I got older. Switch to cycling. It's a lot more fun, and gentler on your body. I have quite a few ex-runner cyclist friends who don't miss running at all. Rob, Vik, and I will hold a spot for you in our paceline whenever you're ready.

Thanks for the words of encouragement everyone. I may do some swimming. But we'll see, I have some hangups with swimming.

Also, I wouldn't do anything away from running for a few months...maybe a month. :)

I'm no runner, but I've done my share of swimming and it's the bomb for taking away the pain of high impact damage. Get to Y!

Plus you might want to try removing that Agiel from your ankle.

That sucks :( Try not to fall into the runner's trap; sometimes runners will try to run extra hard or more frequently after recovering from an injury, and this injures them again quickly. Fighting the urge to make up for lost time will probably give you a better overall running experience.

I've been swimming for about 6 weeks while resting with I think was a bout of tendonitis... happy to report I am feeling better and am able to run/walk for about 4 miles without pain.

Swimming is not the same, but it is better than nothing. Try it out. After all, it is so freaking hot out.You might enjoy the water!

It's so aggravating not knowing exactly what is going on, isn't it? I'm my case, I've just had to entirely postpone any dreams of running until "someday," but I still don't think I'm to the bottom of it. I hope you are feeling better soon and that you take it easy on yourself, too.

I did a little shout out to a couple of Chantix folks that made a year on the 23rd, and I mentioned you, too. There aren't a lot of us still doing this, but we are, and that's cool.

Switch to swimming for a couple of months and give your leg a break from the impact of running. You'll use different muscles in your legs and you'll tune your body to use less oxygen, which'll help your distance running.
