Painful 6 miles

Today was long run day around here, and even though I just ran at race pace yesterday, I went ahead with my scheduled long run.

My left leg felt like most of the muscles in it were fatigued the entire run and as a result they were very tense. This lead to a lot of pain as I made my way around the 6 mile loop. For a little while after I got back, both my knees ached.

I think I know why. For one, I raced yesterday. The bigger reason, I think, is that my shoes are 8 months old. I am pretty sure they are just broken down and ready for retirement. I am sure I have put too many miles on them.

Before I started writing this post, and even before I took my shower, I sat down and ordered a new pair of the same Adidas Supernova Ctl I already have. These are a different color, so I am sure I will be faster.

I just hope it’s racing and old shoes that made my leg feel like that, because those two things are fixable.

How many miles do orthotics last?

  2. hey Don, I meant to email you today…I’ll have to do that.

Anyway, the orthopedist said I should get at least a year out of them, and maybe more.

    But good call.

My shins are hurting. The race course was all concrete path. Ouch.

Nate, a different color does make you faster, but it’s even better if you add a racing stripe and maybe a spoiler on the heel.
