World Media Run Race Report

Published by Nathan Powell on February 23, 2008 06:36 pm under running

I had a 5K race today. This was a virtual race, and I have to say, I am not impressed. The course was ill thought out. It turned out to be an out and back, but there were no markers at all. The start time of “Around 4″ was also strange. It was as if I made it up as I went along.

The race director, and cheering crowds for that matter, where no where to be found. I saw one guy, ONE GUY, along the entire course, and when I said hi to him he turned and walked away. It was like he didn’t even know there was a race going on.

I figured they had saved all the money for the post race meal, not so. When I got to the finish (which luckily was right outside my house) there was not a MORSEL of food ANYWHERE. I had to walk to the store and get MY OWN post race meal.

Nice shirts though. 24:19 finish time.

Maybe it was a virtual race in more than one way.

That’s hilarious. I love it. So, we were both unhappy with our times.

Eric, I am not unhappy with my time. :)

I thought it was hard to get juiced up for a solo race. Not to mention that is less than a minute off my PR when I was in a little better shape…and it wasn’t so cold. All in all I am fine with it.

You did well too, don’t be hard on yourself!

That’s the funniest race report I’ve ever read!

Nice work on your solo run….

Great job on kicking my butt. You beat me by 5 minutes, it was painful.
