Further activity yesterday.

Published by Nathan Powell on January 13, 2008 12:17 pm under hiking

I really like it when I go running, but then later in the day, I do something active as well. That’s always a good feeling.

Bob, Sun and I went down to Kings Gap yesterday to hike around in the woods. We had good weather and talked the whole time we were out. Fun.

Bob recently purchased a GPS and wanted to do some Geocaching with it. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find online any caches in the park. We decided to make our own.

Yes, that is random crap we put in it. There is a “Red Bull Dog Tag”, a light switch, a lighter and mouse trap. All cool things one would want to find in the woods.

I am not sure how accurate my Forerunner is for this sort of thing, but the coordinates are:

N 40° 05.720 / W 077° 16.137

If you go look for it, and find it, shoot me an email so I know it’s fairly accurate. I would like to put it on geocaching.com but I don’t want to frustrate people if the coordinates aren’t right.

Of course I wore my Garmin the whole time, so I have stats.

Some Stats:
Distance: 5.18 Miles
Time: 2:19:52 (pace: 26:59)
Average Heart Rate: 90 bpm
Calories Burned: 511

I used to enjoy tagging along geocaching - fun! So glad that you are back to doing what you love again.

    Hah, that’s great.

You should put it on geocaching.com. People will comment if they have a hard time finding it and you can put hints about the surroundings. If you’re way off, people will probably post better coordinates.

Dude, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been lost in the woods after dark and thought to myself “Golly, if only I could find the light switch…”

Love the name of your cache, too!
