HHHM W7D1

Published by Nathan Powell on August 20, 2007 08:14 pm under running

I feel a little silly still labeling any of these posts as HH (Hal Higdon) anything. I mean, I am so far off his plan it’s not funny. I feel pretty good about where I am, so I don’t think I entirely care.

I decided I was feeling good, and since it was raining I wasn’t all that interested in riding the bike, so I went out for a run. I had a running partner so we set out for a semi-speedy 4 miler. I wasn’t interested in killing it, but I didn’t want to do 10:30’s either.

My shins are hurting now, so it’s ice and few days of not running for me (not till Thursday, when I have a 4.5 scheduled).

1 Mile splits: 9:38, 9:39, 9:47, 9:10

The last mile is fast because for no reason at all the other dude wanted to sprint to a bend in the trail from where we were, so we did. It was a blast and helped make the last mile fly by.

Calories Burned: 616

    How about NPHM W7D1?

Bummer about your shins, did you find any stretching and/or strengthening exercises that will help? I’ve started to do some reverse leg-curls in order to build up my hamstrings, which were the part of my legs that were getting beaten up the most.

    Bill,

Hehe, NPHM, I like it. I have been doing some exercises for the shins. Mostly walking on my heels for 60 seconds 3 times a day. It seems to help as does the ice. I should post some more about the shins, might help other new runners with similar problems.
