I woke up today feeling really crappy. I called off work and went back to bed. Blah. Around 11 I went downstairs to check email and had a pretty good craving for a smoke. It’s not like I am going to smoke or anything but none the less my head periodically will chime in with it’s bad ideas.
I need to get more Chantix, but I don’t want to spend the money on it. It would be so nice not to have to go pay 95 dollars right now. I should have run out already, but I missed a dose here and a dose there, so I have had enough pills to get me through till this morning. Well, now I am out and I have to go get the script filled. I am going to fill it, but only because I don’t want to mess up this streak I have going, 27 days isn’t nearly long enough in my opinion to go it alone. I am pretty positive that I wouldn’t smoke even if I did go off the Chantix, but why tempt fate eh?
If it helps, I could agree to show up at your door and throw cats at you if you smoke again. I’d do this for $90, saving you $5 on Chantix — and providing you with free cats in the process! If you supply your own cats, the price drops to $79.99.
How have you felt on the days that you have forgotten to take your Chantix dose? I quit taking it about 1 1/2 weeks ago and thus far I am doing quite well. I actually still have a couple pills left and have told myself that if I ever really really want a smoke I will take one of them so they have somehow substituted for a backup pack of smokes at this point. Thus far I haven’t even been tempted to take another Chantix though.
Sorry to hear you are feeling crappy today.
I’m with you on feeling like I probably would be fine without the Chantix but not wanting to take any chances this time around. It’s easier for me to say, though, since Kaiser is covering all but a co-pay.
Hope you feel better soon. Not smoking has got to be helpful.
Human, thanks, but 3 cats is already plenty. :) Though your prices are impressive.
Lakasha, it’s hard to say how I have felt when I missed a dose. Sometimes I will think I feel worse, but I am not sure if it’s just me thinking “uh oh an urge and I forgot to take my pill!” or if it was triggered because I actually did forget the pill. Dunno.
Maggie, thanks for the kind words. I already feel a world better. Back to reality tomorrow :)
I am so totally for taking Chantix as long as recommended by the manufacturer. If you have no side effects, there’s really no reason not to, I think. I would strongly advocate a long wean! Remember that there’ll always be bad moments, and they all pass. Looking forward to your continued success!
Keep in mind all the money you have saved by not smoking 1-2 packs a day. Even after buying Chantix, you’re probably still ahead of the game. See if you can write off Chantix on your taxes or something :-)
