I am going to jail…

I ran across this article that claims that Dennis Kucinich is interested in impeaching president Bush. My representative is Todd Platts(R)…I figured it was worth a shot. Also if anyone has other links that back up the claim in the link below, please forward them to me.

Mr. Platts,

I realize as a republican, my email here will likely fall on blind eyes. However I must draw your attention to this article:

In that article it is claimed that Dennis Kucinich is interested in pursuing the impeachment of President Bush. If this comes to pass, I urge you to support it. President Bush is dangerous for US troops, and dangerous for democracy. Please do your part to secure our country away from those who would seek to leave our troops in harms way, destroy our constitution.

Thank you

heh – good one Nathan. Perhaps we can share a cage at Gitmo ? I’m afraid I’m getting deported as soon as I put in an application for citizenship.

I’m being positive about it though. Lotsa sun and fun activities (water boarding and other games – or “extraordinary renditions” as they’ve dubbed it) and, according to my wife, I look smashing in orange.

  2. Patrick says:

The House should impeach Bush for the wiretapping he ordered[1]. The other controversies may have merit as well; perhaps a special prosecutor could sift through them?

  3. Nils,

I am sure you’ll be fine…it’s only a few weeks of having toothpicks holding you lids up while watching John Wayne movies…then assimilation is complete :)

    Patrick,

I agree, I think the warrantless wiretaps were and are an impeachable offense. There are other things of concern as well. Allegations of torture, misleading the country for the reasons for war, blowing the cover of a CIA agent…etc. Yeah, I think a special prosecutor would be in order.

I’m thinking about the question of why the Democratic leadership isn’t pushing for a special prosecutor and/or impeachment. I think the answer is that they want Bush in the White House for a couple more years. Every day he’s in there, he’s digging the GOP into a deeper hole that they will have trouble digging out of for 2008. It’s sad that they are willing to sacrifice lives in Iraq for their political gain.

What would happen if they did impeach Bush? They would have to impeach Cheney too, but he would resign. Then Bush would appoint a new VP who could take the reins when Bush resigns, pardon everybody, and try to clean things up. That person would then go into the 2008 election as an incumbent who saved the country, or at least made some progress in doing so. Not a good scenario for the Dems, I guess.

  5. Tom, sadly I agree.

  6. Patrick says:

What the House should do is first impeach Bush and then let the Senate convict him at the same time the democratic successor takes office on January 20th.

As for the lack of a special prosecutor, I guess we need to impeach Bush first (presidential prerogative prevents discovery without it?). Then during the discovery, we’d find out lots of details.
